New Year’s Revolution

January 20, 2010

If you’ve read anything on this blog before, you might have noticed that the end of last year was something of a hiatus.

The reason for that was that anything I might feel like writing about in normal circumstances simply lost its significance in the face of one very important development…

You can imagine that I suddenly didn’t really care that corrupt politicians were still being corrupt, or feel the need to highlight some cultural comparison, or that anything else needed saying on the internet at all.

All of that faded to background noise.  This is real news.

And the weirdness has already begun.  Now, for example, my wife is simply delighted that she doesn’t fit into clothes that fit her just a couple of months ago.  Which is an odd reversal.

So it’s eyes down until mid-May, people.  More news as this little boy makes his presence felt.

    Great news!

I hope you will bring up the child bilingual. It’s easy. You speak English all the time, and your wife speaks Japanese.

It took my daughter until she was eight or nine before she realised I speak Japanese. By then both languages were nearly at native level.
